Professional Floral Design I

This is the first of two courses designed to provide you with the necessary design styles to become a professional floral designer. Topics covered include flower identification and conditioning, floral mechanics, design styles, principles and elements of floral design and history of floral design. Fresh/silk/dried materials are used throughout the course. You will create and take home a completed arrangement each week. Please bring a sharp knife, scissors and wire cutters.

Wedding Planner Certification
Busy brides who want their special day to be absolutely perfect are increasingly turning to professional wedding planners. This 40-hour certificate program is a blended course, conveniently scheduled for one night of classroom training per week at The University of Akron campus, and Online access so you can continue learning on the Internet in your own home. This hands-on program covers contracts, etiquette, flowers, music, day of services, marketing, industry business practices and application. Gain all of the tools necessary to successfully grow a professional wedding planning business! Experience an in-depth study of the important wine producing regions in France. You will be taken on a virtual tour of the areas of this country where, arguably, some of the finest wine in the world is made:

     regions of Bordeaux, Rhone, Burgundy and some of the "satellite domains" where good value
        and quality are synonymous
     discuss the aspects of "terroir" and it's implications on the various flavors of the wine

Here’s a chance to learn about and sample some of the wines of the “New World,” excluding California. We’ll start ‘down under’ and discover some of the special wines of Australia and New Zealand. Then it’s off to South America where we will become acquainted with some of the offerings of Chile and Argentina. Finally, it’s back home to the great Northwest as we investigate wines produced in Washington and Oregon. This is sure to be a quick and fun ‘round the world’ tour!

Getting Started In Voice Acting
Have you ever wondered whose voice you are listening to on TV and radio commercials? How about documentaries or audiobooks? You too can become a Professional Voiceover Artist! This fun, informative, and empowering class will teach you the basics of entering a successful career as a voiceover artist. We will discuss some of the many details of the voiceover industry, our philosophy of marketing, the importance of your voiceover demo, and much more. Your instructor will coach and produce your reading scripts, and even record you in the classroom to later evaluate. Each student will get a personal evaluation from the instructor. In this 2-hour introduction workshop you will learn many of the ins and outs of this huge and lucrative industry. Be warned, many who have taken this class have gone on to become real, bona-fide, professional Voice Actors. Come ready to laugh, learn, and be inspired.
