Phi Theta Kappa Beta Gamma Epsilon Chapter Meeting      April 21, 2007

 

General Meeting Minutes

Officer Introductions

Treasurer Report

Budget: 1726.27

Only Glass Tiles: 50 cents apiece, no report on tiles, sold at conference, several members purchased.

New Idea: Caritas Coffee a possibility. Members got to sample and the basics were introduced.

Intro of chapter members as well as officers: Name, degree, and how long a member

Old Business

All USA: Chris Monroe received 2nd team All- Ohio. May 2nd is the luncheon at the Ohio State House. Applications come out at the end of September, consists of Essay, questions, and letters of recommendations. We can only nominate two people.

Phat Thursday: May 3rd, we will have the football toss and the rock wall provided by the Army, may need to help sell T-shirts and beads

Relay for Life: June 15-16 at KSU Stark Campus. Goal is 2000.00. If we can get twenty people to collect 100.00 we will get it.

Scholarship deadlines: Leaders of Promise- April 27 Cocoa-Cola- May 30

International Convention: Julie and Cherie spoke first: Speakers present- Kevin Sharp, Al Gore, and Gehadt Sadat (better get the correct spelling from someone- the list of speakers is on another computer). Dr. O’Donnell received the Shirley B. Gordon award. Awards we received: Dave Sigmund Distinguished Representative, Beta Gamma Epsilon is a top 100 chapter (out of 1200)

Dave spoke next: talked about Dr. O’Donnell’s award and luncheon with Al Gore. Dave discussed his feeling on winning Award for Distinguished Representative. Goal is to get as many people from our chapter to go.

New Business

Clean Up Day: Starts at 10:00 2 places Mega Street or Jackson High

Spring Graduation: May 20th at the Canton Civic Center, Stoles and Tassels are available in the bookstore, need volunteers to help

Phi Theta Kappa Cheer: International cheer (Phi Theta Kappa what are you?)  “We’re Bright, We’re Bold, We’re Good as Gold”

            Regional Cheer (how do you feel) “We feel good, Oh so good”

            Chapter Cheer: need to develop one

Regional Awards convention: Goal to outdo last years, need committees/ subcommittees

Other Regional Conventions: Columbus State Chapter Officer Academy July 21 (chapter officers or anyone interested in becoming an officer)

North Central (Mansfield) Mini Honors Sept 21-22 Fellowship day and Convention

Columbus State: Leadership Nov 2-3

Here Awards Convention Feb 29-March 1

Dave spoke about deciding to be an officer

Beta Gamma Epsilon is getting a donation from McKinley Grand Hotel for Relay for Life

Next Meeting June (date and time TBA)
