Dean, General Studies

Description: THIS POSITION WILL BE HIRED DURING THE FALL 2008 SEMESTER. This position provides leadership and guidance to faculty, staff, and students in the Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, English, Communications, and Social Sciences departments. The Dean position reports to the Provost and is responsible for strategic planning, financial and administrative management, leadership in program planning, development, and implementation and advancement of practices that ensure student success. The Dean maintains college and programmatic accreditations and further develops TAGS, the transfer module, and fosters articulation agreements resulting in baccalaureate degrees with other institutions of higher learning. The Dean is involved with community outreach at all levels and figures prominently in the College’s Mission of catalyzing regional economic growth.

Requirements: The qualified candidate must have an earned doctorate or the commitment to earning same from a regionally accredited institution; a commitment to continuous improvement and AQIP; instructional experience at the higher education level; experience recruiting and managing full- and part-time faculty; working knowledge of curriculum development, experience with learning assessment; demonstrated management experience in budgeting, strategic and operational planning in a post-secondary, shared governance environment; experience with E-Learning as an institutional strategy for a teaching/learning modality; ability to research, direct and implement emerging technologies; and a commitment to diversity.
