Description: Full-time, 180-day contract position (plus 50-day supplemental contract) beginning spring of 2010. Prepare and deliver high quality day, evening and/or weekend advanced level course instruction at main and/or satellite campuses or on the web in Comprehensive Automotive and Toyota T-TEN programs. Responsibilities include: preparing and delivering advanced level courses in the Comprehensive and Toyota T-TEN programs; coordinating the corporate relationship with Toyota; mentoring part-time instructors that teach Comprehensive automotive classes; updating courses to reflect current industry standards and program use; advising students; marketing the automotive programs to high schools, businesses and industries in the area; participating in departmental, committee, and college activities; and other necessary duties as assigned by the department chair. Candidate must be willing to complete a series of Toyota T-TEN training courses in the ASE areas they are teaching and to attend training classes throughout the U.S. with a minimum of 5 days of update training per year. Candidate must also be willing to develop curriculum; set up classrooms/labs; receive and account for tools, equipment and course materials; help order necessary tools and equipment; develop and maintain the NATEF Certification package for the Comprehensive and Toyota T-TEN programs; attend and participate in committee meetings; chair the Toyota T-TEN advisory committee; visit local dealers and independent repair facilities to gain support for the program; and visit programs at other colleges to investigate program operations.
Requirements: Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology or Automotive Management, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Certified Toyota T-TEN Instructor and Certified Master ASE Technician with at least 10 years of recent field experience. Ability to diagnose and service modern computerized fuel, ignition, and emission control management systems; possess an in-depth knowledge of complex automotive electronic devices and systems; and have a thorough understanding of automotive microprocessors, sensors and actuators. Knowledge of scan tools and voltage tracing scopes to diagnose engine performance and drivability problems. Ability to diagnose, service and repair automatic transmissions, manual transmissions and final drive assemblies.
