Description: Full-time, 180-day contract position beginning spring 2010. Prepare and deliver high quality day, evening and/or weekend course instruction at main and/or satellite campuses or on the web in Developmental Education. Responsibilities include developing, refining and teaching computer-assisted reading and college success courses to students; designing and providing instructional strategies in reading, writing and math for faculty in general and technical disciplines in a consulting and professional development role; advocating for students; academic advising; mentoring adjunct faculty; coordinating and scheduling content among instructors; modularizing instruction; coordinating and administering student assessments; selecting and creating instructional materials; assisting in faculty training; attending departmental meetings; participating in program presentations; delivering instruction in innovative ways and incorporating technology into instruction; participating in professional development activities; assisting in program development; and participating on college committees.
Requirements: Master’s degree in Reading or Developmental Education is required. Experience in creating and providing professional development activities for faculty is desirable. Candidate will possess a dedication for teaching and be a model for academic and professional success for students and faculty. Exemplary interpersonal skills are essential. Experience teaching adults, traditional, and nontraditional students is expected.
