Petroleum technology – measurement and mechatronics technician

Make your degree in petroleum technology even more valuable with a major in measurement and mechatronics technician.

Mechatronics, originally a combination of mechanics and electronics, has evolved into a technically multidisciplinary field that includes a combination of mechanical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, telecommunications engineering, systems engineering and control engineering. As technology advances, the subfields of engineering multiply and adapt and mechatronics aims to unify them.

A mechatronics engineer unites the principles of mechanics, electronics, and computing to generate a simpler, more economical and reliable system.

With this major, you’ll take courses covering a wide range of technology associated with the petroleum industry, including gas compression and flow, electrical circuits, corrosion, measurement, production, PLCs, instrumentation, AutoCAD, hazardous waste training and more. The major includes a 10-week summer intensive.
