Pre-engineering

with The University of Akron and the University of Mount Union

Pre-engineering civil engineering
(Articulation to a BS in civil engineering with The University of Akron and University of Mount Union)

Associate of science
Pre-engineering – civil engineering

This associate of science in pre-engineering – civil engineering degree (ASPECE) is designed for students transferring from Stark State College into  The University of Akron’s (UA) bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering (BSCE) or University of Mount Union’s BSCE. To avoid confusion, there is also a similar articulation in place between the Stark State’s AAS degree in civil engineering technology and the University of Akron’s BS degree in construction engineering technology. However, this pre-engineering in CE degree is aligned with the traditional UA and the Mount Union BS degrees in CE which enables Stark State students a seamless pathway to a traditional BSCE degree from UA or Mount Union.

For questions about what courses are required for the final two years of the engineering BS degree at the University of Akron, contact UA’s Transfer Student Service Center at 330-972-7009 or the University of Mount Union’s Transfer Student Services Center number 330-829-8752. Additionally, if you are interested in attending the University of Mount Union, please contact their engineering department during your first year at Stark State for curricular advising.

Pre-engineering electrical engineering
(Articulation to a BS in electrical engineering with The University of Akron)

Associate of science
Pre-engineering – electrical engineering

This associate of science in pre-engineering – electrical engineering degree (ASPEEE) is designed for students transferring from Stark State College  into The University of Akron’s bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering (BSEE). To avoid confusion, there is also a similar articulation in place between the Stark State’s AAS degree in electrical engineering technology and the University of Akron’s BS degree in electrical engineering technology. However, this ASPEEE degree is aligned with the traditional UA BS degree in EE which enables Stark State students a seamless pathway to a traditional BSEE degree from UA.

For questions about what courses are required for the final two years of the engineering BS degree at The University of Akron, contact UA’s Transfer Student Service Center at 330-972-7009.

Pre-engineering mechanical engineering
(Articulation to a BS in mechanical engineering with The University of Akron and University of Mount Union)

Associate of science
Pre-engineering – mechanical engineering

This associate of science in pre-engineering – mechanical engineering degree (ASPEME) is designed for students transferring from Stark State College into  The University of Akron’s bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) or University of Mount Union’s BSME. To avoid confusion, there is also a similar articulation in place between the Stark State’s AAS degree in mechanical engineering technology and the University of Akron’s BS degree in mechanical engineering technology. However, this pre-engineering in ME degree is aligned with the traditional University of Akron BS degree in ME which enables Stark State students a seamless pathway to a traditional BSME degree from UA or Mount Union.

For questions about what courses are required for the final two years of the engineering BS degrees at the University of Akron, contact UA’s Transfer Student Service Center at 330-972-7009 or the University of Mount Union’s Transfer Student Services Center at 330-829-8238. Additionally, if you are interested in attending Mount Union, please contact their engineering department during your first year at Stark State for curricular advising.

Note: Only the engineering technology associate degree is designed for graduates to be employed after two years. The pre-engineering degree is designed for students to complete the first two years of an engineering bachelor’s degree at SSC, then transfer to UA or Mount Union to complete a BS in EE, ME or CE.
