  2. Take Placement Test
Contact the Admissions Office, admissions@starkstate.edu, or 330-494-6170, Ext. 4228. Every first-time Stark State College of Technology degree-seeking student is required to take the COMPASS exam unless he/she has ACT scores. Students may elect to take COMPASS if they have ACT scores. Students may retake the COMPASS exam one time. Students with applicable transfer credits are not required to test in that area.

Online students may need to make arrangements to take the COMPASS Admission Placement Test at a local college. Test results need to be sent to Stark State College of Technology, Admissions Office, 6200 Frank Ave., NW, Canton, OH 44720 or faxed to 330-497-6313.

If you are seeking the Certificates of Competency or have a Bachelor’s Degree, you do not have to take the Compass Test. Students placed in the proper level courses have a much better chance of success.

You will receive an acceptance letter from the College after completing the admission process.
