Logistics is
that part of the supply chain process that plans, implements and controls
the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services, and related
information from point of origin to point of consumption in order to meet
customer requirements. It includes the areas of transportation, warehousing,
order processing, vender negotiation, and distribution.
Effective
logistics management can improve a firm’s marketing effort by establishing
consistent and dependable customer service levels.
The U.S. has one
of the world’s most highly developed logistics infrastructures, giving
consumers and businesses access to an enormous variety of goods and
services.
The goal of
this option, in addition to those included for the Marketing Management
program is to give the student an understanding of the role of logistics in
national and multinational business and government activity. The student
will be able to use a variety of analytical tools and techniques to solve
