Advanced Phlebotomy - MAT230

Advanced Phlebotomy is designed for Stark State College of Technology students who have had venipuncture or Certified Medical Assistants with at least one year of drawing experience.  
 
Blood Transfer Technique

Blood Transfer Technique

This course is designed to expand on collection and handling of specimens unique to hospitals, safety, infections control and obtaining specimens from hard-to-draw patients for individuals with phlebotomy drawing experience.

CLPlb (NCA) national phlebotomy certification:
The course is designed to complete the educational requirements needed for candidates to sit for the National Clinical Laboratory

Phlebotomist certification examination offered by the NCA (National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel Inc).

Lecture/lab:
Will be held on Saturday mornings.

Required Clinical Experience:
Students are required to complete a 5-hour, weekday morning, clinical experience, for 8 weeks for a total of 40 clinical hours. The 40 hours drawing experience will be completed at an affiliated hospital or clinical outpatient facility.
