Returning to Learning
is a workshop designed to help perspective students prepare for their
college experience. This three session free workshop offers information,
strategies and tips to make the transition into college life easier.
Session One
Specialized Orientation – Participants are given the “who, what, where,
when, and why” of the Admission, Financial Aid, and Registration processes.
Basic information about how to survive the first week of classes is also
shared.
Session Two
Life as a College Student – Time management techniques are discussed along
with information about deciding how many credit hours to take and predicting
how much study time is necessary. Participants are taught basic stress
management techniques with a focus on test anxiety.
Session
Three
Study Skills – How to take notes, study, read a textbook, and take a test
are covered as a well as learning styles and professor expectations.
