Alumni Advisory Council

Purpose

  • To provide input to the College on community higher educational needs from an alumni perspective and to provide support for various College initiatives and activities
  • To assist the College in continuing to enhance its image in the community
  • To support College initiatives, activities, and fund-raising efforts
  • To provide alumni and the Alumni and Friends Association with regular information about College and Community programs, activities and initiatives

Membership

Members of the Alumni Advisory Committee will be selected by the President of Stark State College, the Alumni Affairs Coordinator, and the Vice President for Advancement and External Relations.  Preference will be given to previous Alumnus of the Year recipients and other alumni based on their demonstrated leadership, professional achievements and community involvement

Terms of Office

Members of the Alumni Advisory Council Committee will serve two- and/or three-year terms, or until a replacement is chosen

Responsibilities/Duties

  • To attend at least two council meetings per year from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and one Alumni and Friends Association meeting/event
  • To provide input regarding community needs and to provide input from the alumni perspective on various issues, including the College’s image
  • To participate in the Alumni Mentoring Program providing mentoring for other alumni/students
  • To support College and Foundation initiatives and fund-raising activities, attend planning meetings and assist in project implementation as needed
  • To assist in the selection of a deserving inductee(s) for the annual Alumni Hall of Fame Alumnus of the Year Award, which is presented at Commencement

Foundation Ex Officio

Each year, a member of the Alumni Advisory Council Committee will be selected as a liaison to the Stark State College Foundation, ensuring the alignment and collaboration of both the foundation and the college alumni

Alumni and Friends Association Ex Officio

Each year, a member of the Alumni Advisory Council Committee will be selected as a liaison to the Stark State College Alumni and Friends Association Board of Directors, ensuring the alignment and collaboration of both entities representing alumni
