Stark State College names Barberton Satellite coordinator
Stark State College has named Selena Myers as coordinator of its new Barberton Satellite Center.
Myers has a bachelor’s degree in marketing management and a master’s degree in higher education administration from The University of Akron. She previously worked as assistant director of the UA Office of the Alumni Association. Also at The University of Akron, she served as the campus advisor for the student ambassador program and for Kappa Kappa Gamma women’s fraternity, earned Greek life service awards and served on many campus committees.
Myers also worked as a marketing coordinator at Armstrong Cable and the Western Reserve Masonic Community and was a marketing assistant at Wayne Homes where she received an employee excellence award. She also was public relations coordinator for Marketing Resources and Results.
“Selena is dedicated to student engagement and success,” said Wally Hoffer, dean of student services. “She’s a dynamic, energetic individual who’s also a respected leader.”
Myers was a board member of the Akron Adult Rehabilitation Center for the Salvation Army and the Northeast Ohio Susan G. Komen Foundation, serving as a committee chair or co-chair on numerous occasions. She is active in Kappa Kappa Gamma women’s fraternity, currently serving as a regional director of alumnae, and was a member of the Medina County Chamber of Commerce. Her professional associations include membership in the American College Personnel Association, a student affairs association serving 1,200 private and public institutions in the U.S.
The Barberton Satellite Center opened for classes this semester. Stark State partnered with the Barberton Community Foundation in renovating the former Ohio National Guard Armory at 644 Norton Ave., with the Foundation investing $1.8 million in structural improvements and SSC bringing in $800,000 worth of equipment and furnishings.
