State College student accounting chapter
receives national award for seventh time in 10 years
The Stark State College
student chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) has
been named IMA’s “Outstanding Two-Year College Chapter in the Nation”
for the seventh time in 10 years. The chapter was recognized recently at
the IMA national conference in Phoenix, AZ. In addition to the trophy,
the winning chapter received a $1,000 cash award that will be used for
student scholarships at Stark State.
“The Stark State College
IMA student chapter has been consistently successful in this national
competition. The success of our chapter is due to our dedicated,
hard-working students, the support of the faculty and staff at Stark
State, and support from the Canton Chapter of IMA,” said Chapter Advisor
Pamela Benner, CMA, CFM, instructor of accounting and finance
technology. “Being a member of IMA provides our students with great
opportunities to develop their professional and leadership skills. Our
members are excited about this win, and plan to work just as hard in
2007-2008!”
The annual competition
honors student chapters from across the U.S. for their efforts in
promoting management accounting and financial management as professions
and careers. Judges based the award on the chapter’s success with
educational meetings, community service projects, awareness projects,
linkages to area businesses and more.
