Stark
State College student Richard Houze receives scholarship from Ohio EPA
and Ohio Academy of Science

Richard Houze, an
environmental health and safety student at Stark State College,
has received a $1,250 scholarship through the Ohio EPA's
Environmental Education Fund.
The Dover resident
joins 21 other environmental science and engineering students
from Ohio colleges and universities receiving a scholarship
through the fund this year. He was the only two-year college
student to receive an award. Houze, a Marine veteran, is an
environmental technician intern with Marathon Petroleum in
Canton and plans a career in environmental compliance. |
Administered by the
Ohio Academy of Science, the scholarships reward outstanding
undergraduate students based on academic merit, contributions to
environmental science or environmental engineering, and
involvement in non-athletic extra-curricular activities. Funding
for the scholarships comes from civil penalties collected by
Ohio EPA for violations of Ohio's air and water pollution
control laws. |
