Retirement University debuts at Stark State College
Retirement University, a
new series of continuing education classes especially designed for those
who are retired or are about to retire, will begin in February at Stark
State College of Technology.
“This is the age of
lifelong learning,” said Russ O’Neill, director of continuing education
at Stark State. “Older members of our community are eager to learn new
things that will enhance their lives. We have attempted to develop
classes that meet their needs and interests and that are conveniently
scheduled and priced.”
Several courses offered
in the first session of Retirement University are: Navigating the
Internet, Getting the Most from Your Email, Mastering the
Medicare/Medicaid Maze, Literacy Skills for Grandparents,
Scrapbooking Memories, and Mixed Media Art. Personal
Electronics 101 will provide participants with a basic overview and
operational understanding of today’s most popular personal electronic
devices including cell phones, iPods, digital cameras and home theaters.
All classes are held during the day at Stark State’s Advanced Technology
Center with adjacent parking and accessibility.
