U.S. Rep. John Boccieri (D-OH) addressed over 4000 people Sunday at Stark State College’s May Commencement. About 530 Stark State graduates walked across the stage at the Canton Memorial Civic Center, receiving their diplomas from Dr. John O’Donnell, College president and Christopher Maurer, chair of the Board of Trustees. The commencement ceremony also recognized 32 Early College High School (ECHS) students who represent the first graduating class to receive associate degrees while completing their high school diplomas. - Watch Video of Recognition Dinner
Congressman Boccieri told graduates that the type of economic and social challenges facing us today are what has defined America. He encouraged graduates to make a difference in their communities and in their own lives. He said he never dreamed that when he graduated from college 12 years ago, he would be elected to Congress. “With determination and hard work, anything is possible,” he added. “You have the wind at your back." - Watch Video
