carriers may

How do I register for WENS alerts (Opt-In)?
Students, faculty and staff can register by clicking the “Sign
Up Now” link (in Student Access or the College Intranet) and
entering their mobile numbers. You will receive a text
confirming that you have opted into the alert system to receive
emergency notifications. If you do not receive a message within
60 seconds, click on the “Problems?” button at the bottom of the
registration page. You may have a cell phone plan with a
regional carrier that does not allow text messages from outside
sources. In most cases, you will still be able to register for
the service and receive text messages.
What type of
alerts will I receive?
Stark State College uses mobile text messaging to registered users to provide
notification of an emergency or weather-related communication.
What if I change
mobile carriers and receive service through another company?
You will still receive alerts if you have the same phone number. There may be a
short delay until the system recognizes your new carrier.
What happens if I
change my phone number?
You will need to re-register so that you can resume receiving alerts.
How can I stop
receiving the alerts (Opt-Out)?
There are a few ways to stop receiving alerts:
1. You can simply text the word STOP to 69310 from your phone
2. You can send an email to:
remove@wensnetwork.com
3. You can return to the “Sign Up Now” link on the registration
page and click on “Unsubscribe”.
What if the
message was delayed?
WENS is capable of issuing 30,000 text messages per minute; however, once it
enters the carrier network it can be delayed depending on many variables.
Identical information (and updates) will also be available at the College Web
site www.starkstate.edu and the College
phone system at
3330-494-6170 or 1-800-79-STARK (1-800-797-7275).
What if I don’t
receive a message?
Report this to Campus Security via email at
mweldon@starkstate.edu. In the
email, please provide your name, mobile number and the name of your mobile
carrier.
Will I
receive ads or unsolicited messages (SPAM) on my mobile phone?
NO. Inspiron Logistics, the company behind the WENS system, does not tolerate
spam text or email messages. Inspiron Logistics maintains an anti-spam policy as
part of the compliance to operate with priority provisioning with all of the
major North American carriers.
