Teamwork and Treatment
Teamwork development strategies can improve cohesiveness in workplaces - including counseling agencies. It’s time to bring the value of teambuilding to the groups and families we work with. This is a hands-on workshop about teamwork activities for families and groups of staff or clients in settings such as schools, mental health centers, home-based work, detention centers and nursing homes. In between our practice experiences, we will take time to evaluate which activities to choose for which situations and to reflect on some principles of teamwork.

Brain Matters
“If the brain was so simple we could understand it, we would be so simple that we couldn’t.” There was a time when we didn’t care about the brain, considering it filler for our heads. We’ve now come to recognize the brain as the most important organ in the body, supported by all our other organs. Understanding the most complex thing on earth is a challenge, and while we’ve come a long way, we still have far to go. Come and enjoy Karen’s humorous approach as we examine the facts we do have and discover how that knowledge can help us make better choices and live healthier lives.

Healthy Living for Busy Lives
“If your output exceeds your intake, your upkeep will be your downfall.” In this fast-paced world where it’s hard to keep all the balls in the air, there’s plenty of talk about “healthy living” - but it’s hard to know just what to do with the information. Maybe you’re one of the many Americans who suffer with at least one chronic disease and wonder if it’s too late. Good news: It’s never too late, which is why we need to be intentional about assessing and maximizing the quality of our health. In this presentation we’ll define wellness, examine the elements of healthy living and explore some of the major hindrances to health. You’ll assess where you are and make one meaningful change to enhance your life. You’ll also explore models for treating chronic illnesses and examine the practice of lifestyle medicine.
