License Renewal Workshops for Water and Wastewater Operators
Each workshop approved by Ohio EPA for six continuing education hours.
Alternative Disinfection Systems for Water and Wastewater Operation Process
This course covers the pros and cons of chlorine (gas, powder, liquid) compared to alternatives like chloramines, chlorine dioxide, ozone, UV, mixed oxidants, ultra-filtration and other disinfectants, and how they may help in meeting requirements for the disinfection byproducts and upcoming groundwater rules. Join Mike Harrington for this interactive program combining superb visuals, discussion and demonstrations.

Tips and Tools for 21st Century Water and Wastewater Management
This program explores 11 little-known “tools” now available to achieve better operations in treatment, distribution or collection. Learn why simple hypochlorite strength measurements are important; why portable ORP monitoring can yield big wastewater monitoring dividends; and how refining lab tests for disinfection residuals, alkalinity, solids core-taking and jar-testing can avoid violations. See which two key, inexpensive tools are missing from most treatment plant toolboxes. Learn why corrosion control isn’t just water chemistry.

Spring Operations Update
Tim Parks returns to take you through an operations update, starting with a look at various water distribution system components such as storage tanks, elevated tanks, valves, disinfection and maintenance on these systems. We’ll look at OSHA violations commonly found in water and wastewater plants and touch on welding basics for water and wastewater operators. Next, we will look at the requirements of storm water training for water and wastewater employees, followed by a look at chemical awareness and the “Great Spill,” an actual incident of a Ferric spill at a water treatment plant, with lessons learned the hard way. Finally, just in time for summer, “The Great Outdoors” will look at things in nature that can bite, cause itching, maim, cause diseases and possibly even death.

Parts and Components of Water/Wastewater Plants
Here’s a chance to take a look at the role of various components in your treatment facility. Several vendors will join Tim Parks to discuss and demonstrate the important role a number of components play. We’ll cover topics that include UV in treatment plants, pump applications, meters and controls, variable frequency drives, air lift pumps and backflow and cross connection. The day will conclude with a fast-paced game to test your knowledge of various parts and components.
