To add a border and/or shading to your current working document, ensure that the
Home tab is selected (Figure 1). Then in the Paragraph box located on the
menu bar, select the arrow to the right of the Border icon (Figure 2). |

A dropdown menu will then be displayed and select the “Borders and Shading…”
option (Figure 3). The Borders and Shading window will then be
displayed (Figure 4). |

Then ensure that the Borders tab is selected and you can then select the Setting
that you would like to use for your border along with Style, Color, and Width.
You can then preview the settings on the right hand side of the Borders and
Shading window. If you are happy with your settings, select the OK button.
If you would like to create a page border, select the Page Border tab. You can
then select the Setting, Style, Color, Width, and Art for your page border
(Figure 5). You can then preview the settings on the right hand side
of the Borders and Shading window. If you are happy with your settings, select
the OK button.

Then you can customize the shading by selecting the Shading tab (Reference
figure 6). You can then select the Fill color, Style Patterns and Color. Then
you can preview the settings on the right hand side of the Borders and Shading
window. If you are happy with your settings, select the OK button.
