What type of student activities are available to me at the College?
Student Life at Stark State College promotes, encourages and supports student activities and initiatives to provide its diverse students with the “total college experience." Through 29 different student organizations, Student Government Association, intramurals/athletics, honor societies, and service projects, students will develop valuable skills, become more engaged and have an opportunity to meet and build friendships with others. Leadership development is another area where Stark State created exciting opportunities for student involvement: the Emerging Leaders Retreat and Student Leadership Academy (with Kent State Stark) offer two such pathways. We believe that getting you engaged in our Student Life programs is a valuable experience. It will help you understand that learning occurs outside the classroom as well as increase your sense of belonging to our College community.
What should I major in?
Choosing a major can be difficult! Usually, majors are selected based on one’s career goal. If you are undecided about your career goal, you may want to speak to a counselor in the Student Services Office. To make an appointment, visit the Student Services Office, Room S305, or call 330-966-5450.

How do I know what classes to take?
Required classes for each program can be found in the Stark State College catalog, online or by visiting our Student Services Office, Room S305.
If you have specific questions about courses within your program, you may wish to speak to your faculty advisor.
How do I set-up a college visit?
Please contact the Admissions Office at 330-966-5450 or at 800-797-8275 to arrange a visit.
Can I register online?
To register online, click here, select the "Register Online for Classes" link and follow the instructions provided.
NOTE: Online registration IS NOT allowed for first-time Stark State students.
How do I schedule my COMPASS placement exam?
Please contact the Admissions Office at 330-966-5450 or at 1-800-797-8275 to schedule your your exam.
Does Stark State College offer weekend classes?
Stark State College offers a number of weekend classes. Classes are offered on Friday evenings and on Saturdays.
Does Stark State College offer online classes?
The college offers over 200 online classes. Please visit our Web site for class listings.
If I previously attended Stark State College will I need to complete a new application?
If you have not attended classes for a year or more, you will need to submit a new application. Please click here.
How do I transfer previous college credits to Stark State College?

I haven’t filed for financial aid yet. Is it too late?
It is not too late to apply. Please follow the directions contained in the Financial Aid link or stop by the Financial Aid Office in the Student Center Room S304 and obtain a current financial aid packet.
What will happen to my financial aid if I drop my classes or just stop attending?
Attendance and academic performance are important! Withdrawing or ceasing attendance before the 60% point of the term will cause you to owe the school and/or the Department of Education money. Also you will jeopardize your future eligibility for financial aid.
PLEASE contact the Financial Aid Office before any withdrawal so that you may be made aware of the potential impact of your decision.
Do I have to apply for financial aid every year?
Yes, it is required to file for financial aid every year.
Does Stark State College have a career/job placement office?
Stark State College maintains a Career Development office to assist students with career planning and job search skills. The office maintains an online job board and data base of current local, regional and national job openings. For more information please call Career Development at 330-966-5459.
Does Stark State College have daycare?
The Stark Campus Preschool Center is operated by the Interfaith Campus Ministry. It is located across the street from the College. For information, call 330-499-0909.
