(North Canton, OH – Aug. 13, 2012) – Stark State College will begin new training classes in September to boost the information technology skills of unemployed and underemployed workers.
The IT training, coordinated in partnership with The Employment Source, will focus on specific noncredit programs leading to industry certifications, including web technologies (CIW), systems support (MTA), network security (Security+) and virtualization (VCP).
The programs are designed for individuals seeking additional skills, but the College also will work closely with local employers interested in fostering skill development. The two-year grant, renewable for up to four years, also provides assistance with internships and on-the-job training. Participants must meet eligibility requirements.
The training is funded by an H-1B Technical Skills Training Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, administered through the Ohio Board of Regents via the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Individuals interested in the program, or corporate clients looking for help recruiting and identifying skilled employees, can call Chad Henderson 330-494-6170, Ext. 5310.
