(North Canton, OH – Feb. 25, 2013) – A traveling art exhibit celebrating the positive influence diversity brings to our lives is showing in the Student Center at Stark State College through March 22. The display was developed by Embracing Our Differences Ohio (EODO), a Wayne County-based organization whose mission is to demonstrate the concepts that diversity enriches our lives, that respect for differences in our thoughts and beliefs elevates the human experience and that active rejection of prejudice and hatred enhances our own freedoms.
The display’s banners contain the works of about 35 individuals whose graphic art form and words about diversity were chosen to represent the 2012 Embracing Our Differences Ohio exhibit.
EODO’s goal is to use art as a vehicle for students, parents and teachers to express and reinforce the basic concepts of respect and appreciation for others. EODO believes people who are “different” are often the targets of discrimination and/or bullying that’s generally focused on attributes such as age, color, disability, ethnic and cultural traditions, gender, personal appearance, political views, race, religion and socio-economic status. To learn more about EODO, go to www.EmbracingOurDifferencesOhio.org.
