(North Canton, OH – April 25, 2012) – Stark State College will host a special session of the Fifth District Court of Appeals on Tuesday, May 1 beginning at 8:45 a.m. in Room T113 of the Advanced Technology Center.
Six cases – both civil and criminal – will be presented, followed by a question and answer session with the judges. The Ohio Court of Appeals, Fifth Appellate District, is one of the few courts in Ohio that still travels throughout the district to hear cases. The sessions are open to the public.
The special “school days” sessions are part of the Stark County Bar Association’s 2012 Law Week Programs with the theme “No Courts, No Justice, No Freedom.” Law Day or Law Week is a national time set aside to celebrate the rule of law, underscoring how law and the legal process have contributed to the freedoms all Americans share. Other local programs will include moot court competition, an ask-a-lawyer hotline, contest awards ceremonies, a Law Day luncheon and seminar and a naturalization ceremony.
