David J. Sigmund

My name is David J. Sigmund; although, most people call me Dave. I have a wife, Kathy of 34 years, three daughters, Krista, Karah, and Katrina...and yes-she is a hurricane! I also have six grandchildren; how did I get to be so old? I have had many years experience volunteering in several areas. I have been a volunteer fireman (9yrs), Girl Scouts (11yrs), and worked on school levy committees. I am currently a union steward for Steelworkers Local 1123, and I am in my second term as a school board member for the Sandy Valley Local Board of Education. I also hold the position of Legislative Liaison with the board.

I returned to Stark State College in the fall of 2004 after an 18 year hiatus to earn a degree in Applied Industrial Technology. I never believed in my wildest dreams that I could ever achieve the academic standards required to become a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Of all of the things that I have accomplished in my life, I place my membership in PTK among the top of my list. It is an honor that I carry with pride and dignity. Through Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship, Phi Theta Kappa provides a well rounded field of opportunity for all of its members, young and old.

My personal goal for the Beta Gamma Epsilon chapter is to raise the level of student awareness about who we are and what we do here at Stark State College. I believe that by doing this, we will attract more members to our chapter and help influence increased academic achievement by all of the students at Stark State College.
