Petroleum Technology – Production Technician

The petroleum technology-production technician major will provide the learner with the knowledge to troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on producing well sites.  Students will obtain knowledge of production equipment, recovery techniques, surface handling of produced fluids, instrumentation found at well sites and environmental responsibility, regulations and safety.

The one-year production technician certificate prepares the student for the daily monitoring and operations of a producing well site.  Emphasis will be placed on meter reading, gauging, well site instrumentation and maintenance of equipment including gathering lines to prevent spills and safety or environmental issues.
