Stark State College to hold new daytime police academy


(North Canton, OH – Dec. 19, 2013) – Stark State College will hold two public information sessions for those interested in enrolling in a new daytime police academy.

The academy provides the training required by the Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Academy to be a peace officer in the state of Ohio. Beginning Jan. 13, the 15-week session will run from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, Saturdays and some Sundays.

Stark State College student accounting chapter again recognized nationally as best of two-year colleges


(North Canton, OH – Nov. 20, 2013) – The Stark State College student chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants once again has been named IMA’s Outstanding Two-Year College Chapter in the Nation.

In addition to trophies, the chapter receives $1,000 in cash awards for student scholarships at Stark State. Linda Gibson, accounting and finance instructor, is the Stark State IMA advisor.


AIDS quilt on display at Stark State College


(North Canton, OH – Nov. 21, 2013) – A quilt section created in memory of a cousin of a Stark State College student will be among the panels from the world-renown AIDS Memorial Quilt on display at Stark State in recognition of World AIDS Day Dec. 1.

The free exhibit, located in the Business and Entrepreneurial Studies building at 6200 Frank Ave. N.W. in Jackson Township, will be open to the public daily from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Nov. 26 – 27 and Dec. 2-4 and 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Dec. 5.


Stark State College offers classes in Akron; attend info session


(North Canton, OH – Nov. 1, 2013) – Akron residents can get a start on a college degree or certificate by taking Stark State College spring semester classes at Hyre, Jennings and Innes Community Learning Centers (CLC).

Information sessions will be held from 5:30 – 7 p.m.
