Stark State College open house set for Oct. 20

(North Canton, OH – Oct. 11, 2013) – Stark State College’s open house Sunday, Oct. 20, will give students and parents the chance to learn about the big tuition savings possible by transferring an SSC associate degree to a bachelor’s degree program at The Ohio State University, The University of Akron, Kent State and others in Ohio and nationwide.

Stark State College offers IADC Rig Pass with SafeLAND USA and SafeGULF training

(North Canton, OH – Oct. 11, 2013) – Stark State College will offer an IADC Rig Pass with SafeLAND USA and SafeGULF training course Nov. 8 from 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The class will be held at SSC’s Continuing Education Center, 265 E. Maple St., North Canton. The fee of $159 includes a box lunch.

SSC to offer floor hand training course, full scholarships available

(North Canton, OH – Oct. 8, 2013) – Stark State College and ShaleNET will offer a three-week floor hand training class Oct. 28-Nov. 15. The class will be held at the Hoover District building, 265 E. Maple St., North Canton in room N100 from 8:30 – 4:30 p.m. daily.

Full scholarships are available for all vets and unemployed Ohioans who qualify.

Stark State College to host free workshop on immigration laws

(North Canton, OH – Oct. 3, 2013) – A free presentation, “Immigration Laws: How do they relate to you?” will kick off Stark State College’s cultural awareness series.

The session, set for Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. – noon, will feature speakers Alfredo Carranza, president and CEO of Al’s Property Management, LLC; Rafael Rodriguez, business development manager for the Canton Community Improvement Corporation; and Community Legal Aid Services, Inc. Attorney Koula Glaros-King.

Stark State offers free emergency preparedness session

(North Canton, OH – Oct. 1, 2013) – Get ready for “just in case.” Stark State College is offering free preparedness training and a free preparedness kit for natural disasters and emergencies so you and your family can be aware and ready.

The session, set for 5-7 p.m. Oct. 10 in Room M101 of the College at 6200 Frank Ave. NW in North Canton, will offer technology tips for disaster planning, a free disaster preparedness kit, interaction with community members and information about SSC’s Homeland Security information technology program.
