Stark State College to offer classes in Akron


(North Canton, OH – May 30, 2013) – Akron residents can get a start on a college degree or certificate by taking Stark State College credit classes at Hyre, Jennings and Innes Community Learning Centers (CLCs) starting this fall.

An information session will be held Tuesday, June 11 at Jennings CLC, 227 East Tallmadge Ave from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. with College admissions and financial aid representatives on hand to answer questions about class schedules, admissions, financial aid and a wide range of scholarship opportunities.


Stark State College offers new $2,500 scholarship


(North Canton, OH – May 24, 2013) – Stark State College is now offering a new $2,500 President’s Scholars Award to high-achieving students.

Designed for new/first-time students who take a minimum of 15 hours per semester, scholars can earn the award by meeting two of three criteria:

Expect to stumble a few times on the way to success, State Representative Kirk Schuring told Stark State’s spring graduates as they face the “Challenges and Opportunities of the Future.”

Don’t be afraid to fall down on the path to achievement, Schuring said. Take risks. He quoted one of his favorite mottos: Appreciate every day of your life. Good days give you happiness, bad days give you experience, and the worst days give you lessons.
