Stark State College Fall graduation numbers up 12 percent


(North Canton, OH – Dec. 23, 2014) – Stark State College will hold commencement ceremonies for 470 Fall, 2014 graduates at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 4 at the Canton Memorial Civic Center. This year’s graduates represent a 12 percent increase over last fall, and add to the 619 graduates who were awarded degrees at the College’s spring commencement exercises.

Stark State College inducts charter members of Psi Beta honorary


(North Canton, OH – Dec. 5, 2014) – Stark State College’s chapter of the Psi Beta national honor society in psychology for community and junior colleges recently held its charter induction ceremony.

Andrew Stephan, dean of the English, Liberal Arts and Math Division, formally installed the charter of the society, which aims to encourage professional development and psychological literacy of all students through promotion and recognition of excellence in scholarship, leadership, research and community service.


Stark State College offers final session of free training for information technology workers


(North Canton, OH – Dec. 3, 2014) – Stark State College is offering the final session of special grant-funded free training for those with information technology experience who want to upgrade skills and acquire industry-recognized credentials.

The network-focused classes prepare students to take CompTIA certification exams for A+, Network+, Security+ and Linux+ and Stark State’s career development experts then help them advance into the right job.

Brian will graduate from Stark State College in December with degrees in both emergency medical services and emergency fire services. Stark State College Institute of Management Accountants student chapter again tops in nation


(North Canton, OH – Nov. 26, 2014) – The Stark State College student chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants has been named IMA’s Outstanding Two-Year College Chapter in the Nation for the 12th time.

In addition to trophies, the chapter receives $1,000 in cash awards for student scholarships at Stark State. Linda Gibson, accounting and finance instructor, is the Stark State IMA advisor. The winners were recognized at the recent IMA annual student leadership conference in Indianapolis.
