Stark State College announces fall 2013 president’s list and dean’s list


(North Canton, OH – January 29, 2014) – Stark State College has announced the fall president’s list and dean’s list.

To be eligible for the president’s list, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average during the semester. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 GPA for the semester.


Stark State College hosts free tax help clinics


(North Canton, OH – Jan. 24, 2014) – Making tax time less taxing, Stark State College’s Enactus and Institute of Management Accountants clubs will again sponsor free tax preparation clinics for those who qualify.

The clinics are set for five Saturdays this spring, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Feb. 1 and 22, March 1 and 22 and April 12, all in rooms M104 and M105 in the Business and Entrepreneurial Studies Building on the campus at 6200 Frank Ave. NW in Jackson Township.


Access Midstream donates more than $12,000 to Stark State College for oil and gas safety gear


Access Midstream(North Canton, OH – Jan. 16, 2014) – Access Midstream, a natural gas services provider, has donated more than $12,000 for safety supplies for 150 students participating in Stark State College’s ShaleNET oil and gas credit programs.

The kits include hard hats, gloves, ear protection, eye wear, a lockout/tagout lock and a fire-retardant lab coat.


Stark State College offers floor hand training class


(North Canton, OH – Jan. 13, 2014) – Stark State College and ShaleNET will offer a three-week floor hand class beginning March 17.

Full scholarship funding from ANGA (America’s Natural Gas Alliance) is available for qualified students who are unemployed Ohioans or military veterans. The registration deadline is March 7.


Stark State graduates record December class


(North Canton, OH – Jan. 6, 2014) – A record number of fall graduates received degrees during Stark State College’s recent commencement ceremonies at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

The number of graduates (417) and the number of degrees awarded (453) were the most ever for a December class in the College’s history. Both numbers are up nearly 16 percent over last year’s totals.
