Stark State College offers free training for information technology workers


(North Canton, OH – Sept. 23, 2014) –Through a special grant, Stark State College is offering free training for those with information technology experience to upgrade skills and acquire industry-recognized credentials.

The network-focused classes will prepare students to take CompTIA certification exams for A+, Network+ and Security+, and Stark State’s career development experts will then help them advance into the right job.


Stark State students part of Old Navy Kids Safety Fair


(North Canton, OH – Sept. 15, 2014) – Stark State College nursing and dietary students will take part in the Old Navy Kids Safety Fair on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 6687 Strip Avenue N.W. in North Canton.


Stark State College announces summer 2014 president’s and dean’s lists


(North Canton, OH – Sept. 11, 2014) – Stark State College has announced the summer 2014 president’s list and dean’s list. Full-time students eligible for the summer president’s list must complete six or more credit hours and earn a GPA of 4.0 during that semester. To be eligible for the summer dean’s list, students must complete six or more credit hours and earn at least a 3.5 GPA for that semester.

Stark State College hosts health series


(North Canton, OH – Sept. 9, 2014) – “Bringing Health Back into Health Care,” a three-part series open to the public, will be held during October at Stark State College. The seminars, sponsored by the College’s Health and Human Services Division, will explore the basic principles of health maintenance through balancing mind, body and energies as professionals from various healing disciplines lead participants on a path of self-discovery and guide them to take an active role in finding optimal health.


Alliance Hospital breaks ground for new Stark State Alliance Satellite


Representatives of Stark State College, Alliance City Hospital, Stark County Port Authority, Stark Development Board, University of Mount Union and City of Alliance were on hand for the Sept. 4 groundbreaking of Stark State’s new Alliance Satellite Center.

Alliance City Hospital is building the new center on the site of their former hospital and will lease the new building to the College for 15 years. Slated to open in Fall 2015, the Center will consolidate four locations where the College currently holds classes.


Stark State College Foundation receives grant for dual-enrollment scholarships


(North Canton, OH –Sept. 3, 2014) – The Stark State College Foundation has received a $50,000 grant from the Akron-based GAR Foundation for scholarships to Stark State dual enrollment high school graduates from Summit County.

The 2014-2015 scholarships of $500 to $1,000 will recognize academic accomplishment and recruit Summit County dual enrollment students to attend Stark State full-time after high school graduation.
