Stark State College to host webinars about new training and development program


(North Canton, OH – Oct. 26, 2015) – Stark State College is hosting free informational webinars on the College’s new training and development degree program.

Webinars are set for Nov. 3 at 11 a.m., Nov. 9 at noon, Nov. 19 at noon, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. and 8:30 p.m., Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. and Dec. 9 at 4 p.m.


Stark State College will sell surplus computers and equipment Oct. 30


(North Canton, OH – Oct. 21, 2015) Stark State College will sell computers and equipment, including flat screen monitors, along with office furniture and other items during a one-day sale open to the public Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on the second floor of the College’s Advanced Technology Center on the campus at 6200 Frank Ave. N.W.


Stark State College to hold automotive program open house


(North Canton, OH – Oct. 14, 2015) – Stark State College’s automotive and transportation department will hold an open house on Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. at 5600 Whipple Ave. NW, North Canton.


Stark State student services program receives $1.15 million


(North Canton, OH – Oct. 13, 2015) – Thanks to a $1.15 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Stark State College’s TRiO Student Support Services program has again been funded for a five-year period.

First offered in 2005, TRiO services are available to first-generation, low-income Stark State students in need of academic support. TRiO provides one-on-one academic advising and support, in-depth assessment of learning and study strategies, financial aid and financial literacy advising and transfer advising.


Stark State College hosts oil and gas bash


(North Canton, OH – Oct. 7, 2015) – Careers in the thriving oil and gas industry will be in the spotlight at Stark State College’s open house set for Oct. 20 from 4-6 p.m. at the College’s Well Site Training Center, 234 Cherry Ave. SE in downtown Canton.

Prospective students and their families can learn about the plentiful education and career opportunities in the oil and gas industry, network and talk with industry leaders, tour the Well Site Training Center and see simulated industry equipment at work.


New dean of student success announced


Fedearia Nicholson(North Canton, OH – Oct. 6, 2015) Fedearia A. Nicholson will begin duties Oct. 26 as the new dean of student success at Stark State College.


Stark State College dietary management program earns reaccreditation


(North Canton, OH – Oct. 2, 2015) – Stark State College’s dietary management program recently received full approval for reaccreditation by the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals.

The program review committee identified zero citations for the five-year review period. The current reaccreditation extends through August 2020.


Partnerships allowing Stark State to put more focus on health care programs

Stark State College’s mission is to give its students an affordable education that will prepare them for today’s jobs — and with many of those jobs being in the medical sector, the school’s recent increase in partnerships to offer health care programming just makes sense, according to president Para Jones.
