Stark State College hosts grand opening for new Downtown Canton Satellite Center


(North Canton, OH – Feb. 23, 2015) – The public is invited to Stark State College’s March 6 grand opening of its new Downtown Canton Satellite Center at 400 Third St. SE.

The evening will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:45 p.m. that will include remarks by State Senator Scott Oelslager and Canton Mayor William Healy.

An open house from 6-8 p.m. will feature hors de oeuvres, wine/beer tasting, tours, CDL simulator demonstrations, and information on new majors, scholarships and naming rights


Stark State College partners with Software Craftsmanship Guild in computer science training


(North Canton, OH – Feb. 17, 2015) – Stark State College and the Software Craftsmanship Guild of Akron have established a partnership to offer associate degrees in computer engineering technology and webpage, digital/multimedia and information resources design. 

Instructors from both Stark State and the Guild will teach the courses. Stark State has mapped the Guild’s curriculum to its computer science associate degree requirements, with the Guild’s IT experts teaching 30 of the required 63 credit hours.


Stark State College hosts Feb. 24 lunch-and-learn about Judaism

Stark State College awarded grant to help adult learners


(North Canton, OH – February 6, 2015) – Stark State College is making plans to connect adults with high school diplomas and job training.

The College was awarded a $450,000 planning grant by the Ohio Department of Education to develop a program to help adults age 22 and older who have dropped out of high school.

Stark State College Distinguished Alumni nominees sought


(North Canton, OH – Feb. 4, 2015) – The Stark State College Alumni Advisory Council is seeking nominations for its annual Distinguished Alumni Award to be presented at May commencement ceremonies.

The criteria for selection include demonstrated professional leadership, community contribution and civic involvement. The Advisory Council, comprised of alumni representing local businesses and the community, will review all nominations and make the selection. Deadline for nominations is April 3.
