Professional development offered at Stark State College


(North Canton, OH – March 25, 2015) – Stark State College will offer four professional development classes in April.

Beginning April 7, Strategic Industrial Maintenance features ten evening sessions focusing on predictive, preventative and reactive maintenance in a hands-on format.

For dental hygienists who need to provide care under the oral health access supervision program (OHASP), Stark State will offer Oral Health Access Provider instruction. The eight-hour course will be offered on Saturday, April 11.


Stark State College automotive open house set for March 30


(North Canton, OH – March 23, 2015) – Stark State College will host an automotive and transportation open house March 30 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. at its automotive center at 5600 Whipple Ave. NW, Canton.

Prospective students of all ages can learn more about two-year degrees and certificate options in the College’s comprehensive automotive program as well as GM ASEP, Toyota T-TEN, Honda PACT and CAT lift truck.


Stark State College open house set for apprenticeship initiative


(North Canton, OH – March 20, 2015) – Stark State College is seeking industry partners to participate in the federally funded American Apprenticeship Initiative.

Under this initiative, a U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) grant will substantially underwrite the cost of classroom instruction for employees enrolled in a registered apprentice program in targeted economic sectors. Upon completion of their training, employees receive a nationally recognized credential which may include an associate’s degree, certificate or journeyman’s card.


Stark State College to host Alliance open house


(North Canton, OH – March 18, 2015) – Stark State College will host an open house March 30 in Alliance showcasing how taking Stark State College classes at its Alliance Satellite Center can put you on your way to earning a certificate or associate degree.

New students can apply and current students can register at the open house, set for 5-7 p.m. at the Alliance Satellite Center, 1237 W. State St., Alliance. All guests can sign up to win a drawing for a $50 gift card to the Stark State College Store.


Stark State College to hold new police training academy


(North Canton, OH – March 16, 2015) – Stark State College will hold a full-time Peace Officer Basic Training Academy beginning April 27. 

The 16-week academy meets all the requirements of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy and qualifies successful graduates to take the peace officer state certification test.

The academy is scheduled for Mondays – Fridays from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., with Saturdays and Sundays required for some topics.


Stark State College dental hygiene program earns reaccreditation


(North Canton, OH – March 11, 2015) – The dental hygiene program at Stark State College has received a seven-year reaccreditation from the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

A team of CODA representatives made a site visit to Stark State’s program in July and issued a final report this month. It’s the second reaccreditation for the program.

“Our program received a clean bill of health,” said Dean Mallernee, department chair for allied dental health professions.


Stark State College to host Barberton open house


(North Canton, OH – March 9, 2015) – Stark State College will host an open house March 18 in Barberton, showcasing how taking Stark State College classes at its Barberton Satellite Center can put you on your way to earning a certificate or associate degree.

New students can apply and current students can register at the open house, set for 6-7:30 p.m. at the Barberton Satellite Center, 664 Norton Ave. in Barberton. All guests can sign up to win a drawing for a $50 gift card to the Stark State College Store.
