This event is intended for all new Akron and Barberton students who have been admitted to Stark State College and are registered for fall classes.

Student Success Jump Start is here to help you make a successful transition into your first year at Stark State. Our faculty, staff, administrators and current students will be on hand to help you establish the foundation for your future success to help you learn what’s expected, how to be successful, where to find key resources and give you an opportunity to meet other new students.
Jump Start FAQs
All new students are required to attend Jump Start to prepare for the new college experience. It’s important that you have an opportunity before the semester begins to learn what’s expected, how to be successful, and where to find resources.

No. Orientation gives you a great foundation for enrolling at Stark State, and Jump Start builds on orientation to provide you with specific tools and resources to be a successful student.
This is a student-only event. While we realize the importance of a strong support system, this event is geared to getting you started by offering insight into the keys to your success as a Stark State College student.
Yes, please refer to your email or postcard for registration information.
Make sure you clear your schedule so you can attend. Check your Stark State email throughout the summer for any updates.
Bring your class schedule and your student ID. Anything else you need for the day will be provided for you at the event.
Students may park in front or behind the building.
When arriving on campus, you’ll find signs and people available to assist you.
No, there is no cost to attend; we just ask that you complete the online registration form.
Yes, even if you are taking class this summer, you are still required to attend since summer classes provide a very different experience than fall semester. Attending Jump Start will not only connect you to important resources, but also allow you to meet other new students.
