Well-built bridges come in handy – whether they’re getting a truck to the other side of the river or connecting local high school students with Stark State’s engineering programs.
To mark the Canton Joint Engineering Council’s annual Engineer’s Week, Stark State hosted area high school students for a tour of the College’s mechanical, civil and electrical engineering labs, introducing them to the areas of digital electronics, PLCs and electrical systems, computer-aided drafting and more.
Students were challenged to build the lowest-priced, safest bridge during a 40-minute virtual bridge-building competition, based on the West Point bridge design contest. The winning team went home with a $100 Amazon gift card.
Each year CJEC awards five $400 scholarships to Stark State students enrolled in engineering technology programs.
