(North Canton, OH – March 22, 2019) – The public is invited to a free event focusing on child abuse awareness and prevention on April 3 from noon – 3 p.m. in M100 of the Stark State College’s Business and Entrepreneurial Center, 6200 Frank Ave. NW, North Canton.
Corine Tindell, a Canton native, will speak at 12:15 p.m. on the Five Secrets of Using Your Strengths to Achieve Your Goals. Tendell, who grew up in the foster care system, set collegiate track records and earned an MAC championship title while at The University of Akron. She earned a bachelor’s degree in interpersonal communications and today works with her husband, Lucas, in relationship training, public speaking and writing.
Community providers from Summit and Stark counties also will be at the event to provide information about community resources, and some will be interviewing potential employees. Attendees include Summit County Children Services, Stark County Fatherhood Coalition, the Stark County Vet Center, Tindell Training, Williams Challenge, Phoenix Rising Behavioral Health, the Akron Urban League, Sweet Dreams Infertility Awareness, Stark County Thrive, Hannah’s House, GROUPS and the Stark Social Work Network.
The SSC Student Connection Club and Human and Social Services Student Association will collect professional clothing to donate to organizations helping those in need, along with toiletry items for the YWCA Women’s Homeless Shelter.
