MatheMagics to be conjured at Stark State College

A free, public presentation of “MatheMagics” will be presented at 2 p.m. Nov. 5 in Stark State College’s Silk Auditorium, 6200 Frank Ave. NW.

Dr. Arthur Benjamin, a magician and a professor of mathematics at Harvey Mudd College in California, will provide an entertaining and fast-paced performance explaining how to mentally add and multiply numbers faster than a calculator, memorize 100 digits of pi, figure out dates in history and other amazing feats of the mind.

An award-winning researcher, writer and teacher as well as an American Backgammon Tour winner, Benjamin been seen by millions at TED.com, on the Colbert Report, CNN, and The Today Show and in national magazines and newspapers.

The event will follow Stark State’s annual mathematics competition, set for 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. that day.

Registration is recommended but not required.
