Three new members appointed to Stark State College Board of Trustees

Gerald Gilin

(North Canton, OH – Jan. 23, 2019) –  Gerald Gilin, Karen Lefton and Elaine Russell Reolfi have been named to the Stark State College Board of Trustees by the Stark County Educational Services Center (ESC) governing board.

Gerald Gilin, of Hartville, is the director of training and development at DRB Systems in Green, where he oversees the design, development and delivery of learning programs for employees and customers. Prior to joining DRB, he held senior training and operations leadership positions at SD Myers, Diebold, Inc. and Konica-Minolta, Inc. Gilin earned an associate degree in electronic engineering and holds certifications as a master trainer and in high potential leadership development.

He has been active in his community, including leadership roles on the Stark State College Foundation board, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Committee, the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the American Heart Association, along with serving as a mentor for at-risk youth and an instructor in basic money management.

Karen LeftonKaren Lefton, of Copley, owns The Lefton Group, LLC, a law firm that focuses on helping for-profit and nonprofit businesses and organizations grow. She previously was a partner at the Akron law firm of Brouse McDowell and served as in-house counsel at the Akron Beacon Journal/ In her first career as a journalist, she held a number of positions ranging from reporter to city editor in the newsroom at the Beacon.

Lefton earned a bachelor’s degree from Miami University, a juris doctorate from The University of Akron’s School of Law and an MBA from Ashland University’s International Executive program. She was inducted into the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business. Lefton has been selected as a SuperLawyer, is a graduate of Leadership Akron and received its 2013 Distinguished Leader Award for co-chairing the successful campaign to grow the Women’s Endowment Fund of the Akron Community Foundation.

Her community activities include the boards of Goodwill, Akron Roundtable and the Stark State College Foundation. She is also on the Summit County Public Defender’s Commission governing board and is a member of the Small Business Council of the Greater Akron Chamber.

Elaine Russell ReolfiElaine Russell Reolfi is executive vice president of organizational advancement and corporate relations at TimkenSteel and president of the TimkenSteel Charitable Fund. She began her Timken career handling communications for Asia Pacific and Latin American operations, then went on to lead various aspects of the company’s communications, brand management and employee engagement activities. In 2014, she joined TimkenSteel to establish the brand for the new public company and to create and lead the communications and community relations functions. Before joining Timken, she worked in the automotive and health care industries before joining Timken.

In addition to her community engagement on behalf of TimkenSteel, Elaine donates her time to boards at Stark State College and the Sisters of Charity Foundation. She also is a member of the strategic communications council of the American Iron and Steel Institute.

With a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in business administration, she also is a graduate of the Executive Development for Global Excellence program at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

Russell Reolfi is filling the unexpired term of Kari Groh, who retired from the Board in July, with her term ending Aug. 1, 2019.  Gilin’s and Lefton’s terms run through Aug. 1, 2021.
