Works of Brenda Holland featured during November and December at Stark State College

Off the Path

Multi-media artist Brenda Holland will be featured Nov. 6 – Dec. 27 in the Stark State College gallery on the second floor of the Student Center. Her show is titled “Finding Beauty in Chaos.”

Holland, a Stark County native who now lives in Akron, had a 30-year career in the legal field as a paralegal and CEO of a legal employment agency. Six years ago, she decided to explore a career change and enrolled full time at the University of Akron, earning a bachelor’s degree in studio art with a minor in digital imaging. During her time at UA, she discovered a special talent for collaging. Her artwork has been chosen for juried shows and solo exhibitions, and her video, “Hell is Real,” was presented at the Atlanta Horror Film Festival.

“Art has helped me to take the broken pieces of my life and arrange them in a way that I can control,” Holland said. “More than that, through my faith, I can see the beauty in the chaos. Creating an eye of calm in the storm of my son’s struggle with heroin addiction, I found a way to create light.”
