NORTH CANTON, Ohio, Feb. 16, 2024 – Intel leaders were on-site at Stark State College on Friday, Feb. 16, to unveil the new AI (Artificial Intelligence) Lab in the W.R. Timken Center for Information Technology, and to discuss the College’s role as an “accelerator” of Intel’s AI-Ready Workforce program.

Stark State’s new AI Lab was funded through a grant from Intel and Dell. Intel worked with the College’s IT faculty to develop two AI certificates, which will be offered in Fall Semester, 2024. Stark State is among a select group of community colleges across the country participating in Intel’s AI-Ready Workforce network, which aims to equip the workforce with the technical confidence, skillsets and competencies needed for jobs that utilize artificial intelligence.

“Stark State is very proud to work with Intel to become a leader in AI (Artificial Intelligence) workforce education,” said Stark State College President Para M. Jones, Ph.D. “Intel is looking to Stark State to be an ‘accelerator’ in preparing people with AI skills needed in the digital economy.”

During the event, Intel leaders and Stark State trustees, deans and faculty discussed Intel’s investment in Ohio, the College’s AI work to date, and plans for future work with Intel’s AI incubator network.
