I Promise scholarships

With a shared certainty in the ability of education to transform and empower, Stark State College is partnering with the LeBron James Family Foundation to support students in the Akron I Promise Network who choose to further their education at Stark State.

The opportunity not only offers free tuition, resources and focused attention for Akron-area I PROMISE Network students, but extends the same benefits for two parents or guardians residing in the student’s home.

Eligible students will receive last-dollar tuition scholarships for any program, certificate or degree for two academic years, bridging the gap between financial aid from grants and scholarships and the cost of tuition. That’s right, they’ll have the opportunity to come to Stark State TUITION FREE for two years!

They’ll come to campus prepared – campus visits, introductory experiences to preparing for college, opportunities to explore career pathways and parent/guardian information sessions.

At Stark State, they’ll be supported with advising, tutoring and other services (and their parents/guardians receive financial literacy training). Each student, for instance, is assigned a professional coach to help with the college transition, ensuring they thrive and succeed.

Stark State also will support I PROMISE Network students who want to transfer their SSC associate degree to a baccalaureate program.

The Stark State College Foundation has established a scholarship fund for I PROMISE scholarships.
