BASE: Building Academic and Social Excellence
Mission of BASE
To assist our students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with a successful transition to Stark State College, and give support and tools that will aid in their success at Stark State College and beyond.
How it works
- Student expresses interest in the program and contacts Disability Support Services.
- Student will complete an interview with Disability Support Services Counselor.
- Each instructor gets a brief informational profile on the student: Strengths, Weaknesses, Recommendations
- Student meets with a Disability Support Services counselor at least once a week to go over:
- Time management
- Communication with instructors
- Academic check-in
- Preparing for projects and assignments
- Exploring Stark State’s campus and community resources
