Still ‘Ruined by Reading’: from the Miseducation of the Negro to the Miseducation of a Generation

This talk addresses the subversive power of reading and writing, looking backward to Bakongo nkisi or power objects, to the abolitionist, civil rights and black power moments, and contemporary efforts to ban books and whitewash curriculae in our new, 21st century Age of Nostalgia.
