Nursing application deadlines
- RN completion for paramedic โโฏMarch 31โฏfor fall admission
Follow the procedure for applying to Stark State College (SSC). See procedures on the SSC website under Admissions (https://www.starkstate.edu/admissions). All students must be accepted to Stark State College prior to applying to the ADN program.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA in Required Nursing Support Courses listed (ENG124, PSY121, MTH124, and BIO121) AND minimum of 2.5 overall GPA
- Students with > 6 months of recent LPN/Paramedic practice AND a letter of recommendation from current director/supervisor will be accepted with a 2.75 GPA in Required Nursing Support Courses (ENG124, PSY121, MTH124, and BIO121) AND a minimum of 2.5 overall GPA
- Transfer studentsโ overall GPA requirement: minimum GPA of 2.5 in seven (7) hours or more of course work at the last college you attended.
Paramedic to RN Cohorts: ENG124, PSY121, MTH124, and BIO121. Must achieve grade of C or above in these courses for admission.
Paramedic to RN applicants must provide a copy of their paramedic certification.
- All students applying to the ADN program are required to successfully complete the TEAS test prior to submitting their application. For information on the TEAS go to https://www.starkstate.edu/teas/.
- The minimum score accepted is 58.7%. You can take the test twice within a calendar year and must wait a minimum of 60 days to retake the test if you wish to improve your scores.
- The test is written on a high school level and covers Math, Science, Reading, and English/Language. Study guides are available in the Stark State Bookstore and at www.atitesting.com.
- Nursing Program will accept TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) test scores for up to three (3) years from the date of the exam.
- You must obtain a background check from Stark State Security. They require you to make an appointment and results may take up to 45 days to return.
- The cost is $70 and can be paid at the Cashierโs Office on the 3rd floor of the Student Services Building.
- Once you receive your results, submit the letter stating your eligibility status with application

FAQs
Students are discouraged from obtaining these requirements prior to receiving an acceptance offer for the ADN program. Please pay special attention to the dates, as the earliest that some can be completed is mid-May. This is due to early expiration and will ensure the requirements remain up-to-date for the entirety of the spring and fall semesters. Health requirements will be discussed in more detail at the new student orientation session, which will be announced following acceptance into the program.
Due to community healthcare facility policies, all nursing students will be required to show proof of health requirements prior to clinical experiences, A list of health requirements is included in the link above for your convenience, as some require planning.
Note: Some students cannot be vaccinated because of identified medical exemptions, medical deferments or religious accommodations and may be exempted or deferred from receiving the vaccine. If you believe you should be exempt from this vaccine for any of these reasons, please reach out to the Program Coordinator/Clinical Coordinator to receive a copy of the exemption/deferral forms.
Class and lab are one day a week plus one full day of clinical.
Times can begin as early as 7:30 a.m. and run as late as 5 p.m. Clinical times are typically 7 a.m.-4 p.m. one additional day each week.
Yes, paramedic to RN accepts 24 students. The program is 3 semesters beginning with the Fall semester at the main campus location in North Canton.
