Emergency medical responders (EMR) EMTโs, advanced EMTs, and paramedics are an extension of the emergency department and have received increasing attention and public awareness due to television and public events.
Stark State College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The emergency medical program is accredited by the Ohio Department of Public Safety Division of EMS #008 for EMS education and follows the national standard curriculum according to the Ohio Administrative Code 4765 for all levels of EMS providers.
Completion of the certification courses with a grade of โBโ or higher will allow a student to take the National Registry Certification Exam, which is required by the state of Ohio for certification for all levels of EMS provider. The EMS Courses consist of classroom and lab sessions, including hands-on training on campus. Additionally, training in various medical facilities and field sites is required.
