FAQs

Several classes focus heavily on hands-on production, which requires a good deal of group participation and interpersonal skills. Production is a team effort, requiring commitment, drive and follow-through, all of which an employer seeks in employees.

Only one technical class is offered online: Film Theory and Practice. Non-technical online classes can range depending upon the semester. But most DVMT classes are face-to-face and require consistent attendance to get the most out of the degree.

There may be opportunities to volunteer on local feature film projects filmed in the area. This depends on the semester and timing of projects in our community.

Yes. You have the option to choose between a 3D graphic modeling or principles of animation class. You also may create animations in the compositing and advanced compositing classes.

No. Stark State students come from all different stages of life โ€“ and with a wide range of experiences. You are welcome to join the program regardless of how much or how little experience you may have in digital media.

You donโ€™t need to own a camera. We do recommend a laptop or desktop computer to use at home, but it must be robust enough to handle video editing software. On campus, there are desktop computers available to use, either in the classroom or in the student lab. You must have a USB drive or external hard drive. These must be 3.2 USB around 128GB, and itโ€™s recommended that you get at least 1TB of storage. Adobe Creative Cloud software is used within the classroom, and we recommend that you also subscribe at the discounted student rate. You also will need your own headphones.
