Student leadership academy

Student Leadership Academy is a joint program between Kent State University at Stark and Stark State College. The academy is designed to help you learn about yourself and develop valuable skills when it works for you!

Our program is based on critical skills employers look for: communication, leadership, financial literacy, goal-setting, cultural competency and professionalism.

If you want to build your resume, enhance your online professional presence, meet new people and prove that you are motivated, then Student Leadership Academy is a great choice! No previous leadership experience is necessary.

MENTAL HEALTH CHAT FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS

  • This presentation will focus on understanding multi-dimensional personal wellness, developing good habits for regular self-care, and practicing boundary-setting skills to maintain a balanced plate.

BUILD YOUR PROFESSIONAL NETWORK – FROM CLASSMATES TO CEOS

  • Learn the various ways you can build your professional network, from classmates to CEOs! Learn how meeting new people, creating a LinkedIn profile and being other’s focus can lead you to a world of professional opportunities in just 60 minutes.

  • This session explores nonverbal communication – from facial expressions, eye contact, body movement, paralanguage (tone, inflection, rate, etc.) our use of space, etc., and how they relate to the feeling of closeness and positivity of other people. Participants will learn what immediate behaviors are and how to exhibit those behaviors to be positively perceived by others.

SERVANT LEADERSHIP

Presenter: Rev. Ryan Johanning

  • What does it mean to be a servant leader and why is it an important model of leadership? We will explore the traits of a servant leader and look at various examples. The goal is that each person would see the significance of embodying humility and empowering people, in order to create a culture where people feel valued no matter their role, status, or title.

  • Complete four sessions to receive a certificate.
  • You choose the sessions you want to attend via Zoom, Handshake, Skills to Succeed or in person.
  • Any combination of in-person sessions or special session offerings will be accepted.
  • A completion certificate will be emailed to you.

  • Student Leadership Academy All Access is a partnership between Kent State University at Stark and Stark State College.
